'2 Broke Girls': Season 2, Episode 22: 'And the Extra Work' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanCaroline gets Chestnut’s carrot cake ready for his birthday. His shoe falls off. Max thinks she hooked up with a blacksmith, maybe he can help because they don’t have the money to fix it.
Max comes into the diner; she found the blacksmith. Chestnut needs 4 new shoes, and he has a foot fungus. It will cost $1,400.
Some men come in. They ask to talk to someone about renting the diner out for a television shooting of “Law and Order: SVU.”
Caroline notices the director is her kind of man. He notices Earl and wants him as an extra. He thinks Caroline must be an actress; she is too pretty to be a waitress. He invites the girls to be extras on the show. It pays a little.
Max goes and asks Han if they can use the diner. Han wants to barter over compensation.
Max and Caroline come out in their new costumes. They begin shooting. Earl does well in the background. The director hits on Caroline.
Sophie comes in, ruining the scene. The girls head to the back where there is a good spread of food. The crew comes and gets the girls for their scene while Han tries to get money out of the worker.
The girl need to be behind the counter, and duck when the shooter gets another waitress. Max recognizes her—turns out she was already killed on the show. The director needs someone else, and it pays more. The director wants Caroline. She demonstrates how she died as Fantine.
“A little less French Revolution and a lot more face-down on the floor.”
They fit her with the blood contraption, which the director tells her is very sensitive. Max hugs her and sets off the shots. The director calls a wrap, and invites Caroline to dinner at his hotel in his room.
She tells Max and Max is positive he’s just planning to sleep with her. Max agrees to go along.
They discuss avoiding date rape; Caroline is ready to do kissing at most. The director, DJ, gives them champagne and puts the moves on Caroline. She works on her anti-date rape move: talk incessantly about herself. He kisses her trying to shut her up.
She says she doesn’t want Max to feel left out, so he kisses her too. As Caroline is telling him he has the wrong idea, he gets a call—from his wife. He wants to say goodnight to his kids.
Caroline is not sure what to do. She needs the money!
DJ comes back in, in a towel and ready for his threesome. Caroline tells him he’s reading the signs wrong.
Back at the diner, she tells him good morning, and DJ is perfectly fine. Caroline thinks it will all be good—except that Max gets the blood. DJ invites her to lunch in his trailer, and buries Caroline in the far back.
They begin shooting, but Caroline sneaks in and whispers they don’t need to do it. They drag her out. Sophie decides it is her time to get in the shot and comes out to ask about getting a role. She knocks aside a crew member, who trips the blood, and Max gets shot.
The crew comes in and tells them they can only get paid for the day. Han gives him the list of “damage” to the diner. He has added a thousand dollar charge for the damage done to Max and Caroline… he has heard of the funny business the director attempted. The crew member says he will get them paid if Han keeps quiet.
