Zombex is a 2013 American horror movie directed by Jesse Dayton and starring Lew Temple, Malcolm McDowell, David Christopher, and Sid Haig. The movie takes place in New Orleans after a government experiment goes awry and a new drug is unleashed on the population. The drug, called Zombex, promises to cure depression, anxiety, and even addiction, but instead turns people into mindless, violent zombies.

The story follows a group of survivors who are trying to escape the city and find a safe place to live. Among the survivors is a radio DJ named Charlie Thibodeaux (played by Malcolm McDowell), who is immune to the effects of Zombex and uses his voice to help the survivors stay connected and informed. Charlie is joined by a group of characters who are all dealing with their own personal demons while trying to stay alive in a world overrun by zombies.

One of the survivors is a former CIA operative named Aldous Huxley (played by Lew Temple) who is searching for his missing daughter, who was taken by the government to be experimented on. Huxley is accompanied by another survivor named Gabrielle (played by Emily Kaye), who is a drug addict and the only person who has ever survived a Zombex overdose. Together they embark on a dangerous journey to find Huxley's daughter and uncover the government's sinister plans.

As the group navigates through the zombie-infested city, they encounter a variety of characters, including a mysterious woman named Mz. Connick (played by Sid Haig), who runs a zombie brothel and uses her undead workers for her own profit. The survivors also have to face off against a group of military operatives who are trying to contain the zombie outbreak by any means necessary, including killing all survivors.

The movie is a gory, action-packed thriller that explores themes of addiction, redemption, and government control. The special effects for the zombies are well-done, with the creatures looking suitably grotesque and scary. The actors all do a good job with their roles, particularly Malcolm McDowell, who delivers a strong performance as the charismatic DJ who is trying to keep hope alive in a world full of chaos.

One drawback of the movie is that some of the characters feel underdeveloped, with their backstories mentioned briefly but not fully explored. This can make it difficult for the audience to fully invest in their fates. Additionally, some of the dialogue feels clunky and forced, with characters spouting off cheesy one-liners that take away from the tension of the scenes.

Overall, Zombex is a fun, if flawed, zombie movie that is worth checking out for horror fans who enjoy a good dose of gore and action. The movie does a good job of creating a suitably creepy atmosphere and keeping the tension high throughout. While it may not be a classic of the genre, it is an entertaining entry that delivers on its promise of zombie mayhem.

Zombex is a 2013 horror movie. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 2.2.
