Zinda is a Bollywood psychological thriller movie released on 12th January 2006. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, this movie stars Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham, and Lara Dutta in lead roles. The story of the movie revolves around a man named Balajeet Roy (John Abraham), who is a successful businessman residing in America. Balajeet's life takes a drastic turn when he is kidnapped and imprisoned in a dark cell for 14 long years. During this time, he goes through a severe mental and physical trauma and loses hope of ever being freed. However, one day he is mysteriously released and sent back to his home country, India.

Upon his return, Balajeet, who now goes by the name Rohit Chopra, discovers a letter, addressed to him, which was sent by the kidnappers. The letter explains that he was held captive because his father's illegal business and the kidnapping was a form of punishment for his father's crimes.

Rohit is determined to seek revenge and sets out to unravel the mystery behind his abduction. He seeks help from a former police officer, Lt. Col. Rudra Pratap Singh (Sanjay Dutt), who is now leading an ordinary life. Rudra, who is at first reluctant to get involved, eventually decides to help Rohit.

As Rohit begins to investigate, he discovers that the mastermind behind his abduction is a man named Jamwal (Mahesh Manjrekar), who is a political leader and a corrupt businessman. Rohit also learns that his girlfriend, Jenny (Lara Dutta), whom he believed had died before his abduction, is actually alive and living with Jamwal.

The rest of the story follows Rohit and Rudra's quest to bring Jamwal to justice and unravel the secrets of Rohit's abduction. The movie is skillfully narrated in a non-linear fashion, which intensifies the suspense and thrill of the plot.
