Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar is a Hindi comedy-drama film from 2001, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhry, and Paresh Rawal. The movie revolves around a young man named Dayashankar Pandey (played by Suniel Shetty) who lives in Mumbai, but due to his inadequate income, cannot afford his own home. After Dayashankar receives a notice informing him that his family's ancestral home in Allahabad is being auctioned off, he decides to try and claim it for himself.
However, when he arrives in Allahabad, he discovers that the house already has a long-term tenant â a widow named Saraswati (played by Mahima Chaudhry) and her family. Despite initially wanting to kick Saraswati out so he can have the house to himself, Dayashankar soon realizes the error of his ways and instead focuses on building a rapport with his new housemates.
As Dayashankar and Saraswati get to know each other, they start to develop feelings for one another, despite the disapproval of Saraswati's brother-in-law (played by Paresh Rawal) who sees Dayashankar as a threat to his family's security.
Throughout the movie, there are plenty of comedic moments as Dayashankar and Saraswati navigate their developing relationship, and as all the characters try to find a way to make the house work for everyone involved. Along the way, there are also themes of family, community, and the importance of home.
The film's cast delivers strong performances, with Suniel Shetty perfectly capturing Dayashankar's transformation throughout the movie from a selfish man to a kind and caring housemate. Mahima Chaudhry also shines as Saraswati, providing a strong and nuanced portrayal of a woman struggling to keep her family together.
Overall, Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar is an enjoyable comedy-drama that successfully combines themes of love, family, and community in a heartwarming tale about the importance of home.
