X-Men: The Last Stand is a 2006 American superhero film. It is the third installment in the X-Men film series and is directed by Brett Ratner. The movie features a star-studded cast that includes Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, and Famke Janssen. The movie takes place a few years after the events of X2: X-Men United. The world has changed since then. There are more mutants living among humans, and the idea of curing mutation has become mainstream. The story follows the X-Men as they come face to face with a new enemy, the mutant cure.

The mutant cure is a drug created by a pharmaceutical company that can remove the mutant gene from a person's DNA. Some mutants choose to take the cure because they believe it will make their lives easier. Others see it as a betrayal of their mutant identity.

At the same time, Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) is dealing with a personal crisis. He discovers that a former student, Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), who sacrificed her life in the previous movie, is still alive and has become the powerful and unstable Phoenix. The Phoenix is an incredibly powerful mutant who can destroy anything in her path.

The X-Men must confront these two threats simultaneously. Magneto (Ian McKellen), the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants, sees the mutant cure as a weapon against mutantkind and rallies his troops to fight against it. The X-Men, meanwhile, must deal with the consequences of the Phoenix's return and decide whether to save or destroy her.

The movie is filled with action and spectacle. The fight scenes are intense and fast-paced. The special effects are impressive, particularly the scenes involving the Phoenix's powers. The movie also has a lot of emotional moments, particularly in the scenes involving Jean Grey.

The performances in the movie are strong. Patrick Stewart continues to bring gravitas to the role of Professor Xavier. Hugh Jackman is as charismatic as ever as Wolverine. Halle Berry is given more to do in this movie than in the previous two, and she rises to the occasion. Ian McKellen adds nuance to the character of Magneto, who is given more depth in this movie than in previous installments.

Overall, X-Men: The Last Stand is a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. It wraps up many of the storylines established in the previous movies and provides closure for the characters. The movie also sets up some interesting possibilities for future movies, which were explored in subsequent installments in the franchise.

X-Men: The Last Stand is a 2006 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 44 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.6 and a MetaScore of 58.
