Wushu Warrior is a 2011 martial arts film that tells the story of Liang, a young Chinese man who is forced to flee his homeland after his family is murdered by a group of bandits. Liang travels to America with hopes of starting a new life and forgetting his tragic past. He begins to work in a Chinese theatre where he meets a group of performers who also practice Wushu, a Chinese martial art.

Liang joins this group and starts to train in Wushu to become skilled in combat. However, his past comes back to haunt him when he discovers that the bandits who killed his family are in America and are now threatening the local Chinese community. Liang must use his newfound skills to avenge his family and protect his new community from harm.

The film is set in San Francisco during the 1870s and features breathtaking fight sequences that showcase the beauty and power of Wushu. The choreography is impressive and brings the martial arts to life on screen.

In addition to the action scenes, the film also explores themes of identity, family, and community. Liang struggles with his identity as a Chinese man living in America and must come to terms with his past before he can truly move forward. He forms close bonds with the performers he meets at the theatre, and they become a surrogate family for him.

Matt Frewer shines as the villain of the film, a wealthy businessman who is working with the bandits to exploit the Chinese community for his own gain. Frewer delivers a chilling performance as a man who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Tod Fennell and Amber Goldfarb give strong performances as Liang's friends and fellow Wushu performers. They both offer comedic relief at times but also show their emotional depth during the film's more serious moments.

The film's production design is also worth noting, as it transports the audience to 1870s San Francisco with its attention to detail and authentic costumes and sets.

Overall, Wushu Warrior is an entertaining martial arts film with a strong emotional core. The film's action sequences are impressive, and the themes it explores are relatable and thought-provoking. The performances from the cast, including Matt Frewer, Tod Fennell, and Amber Goldfarb, are all top-notch. Fans of martial arts films and period dramas will enjoy this film for its thrilling fight scenes and heartfelt story.
