In the story, a boatload of beautiful female convicts make their way to the harsh labor colony, tormented by cruel and abusive guards. When they arrive on the island, rumors of lost gold abound. But the women spend a lot of their time wading through jungle and swamps performing difficult tasks around the camp. Then a handsome new warden arrives from France, Henri Valliere (Guy Madison) promising penal colony reforms.
