Watch Woman in the Dunes

Jumpei Niki only wants to find some sand bugs for his research, so he visits a tiny island and spends the day there. He forgets about the time and misses the last bus out, so he relies on the kindness of the strangers there. They are more than willing to help him, but they talk him into entering a pit where a woman is. He climbs down the ladder to get to her, but the ladder is missing when he wakes up. It is then that he realizes that he is being held captive and the only thing he can do is help the woman dig out of the pit.
