Wish Upon is a horror thriller movie that premiered in 2017. The movie stars Joey King as Clare Shannon, a high school student who discovers a mysterious music box that grants her seven wishes. At first, Clare is thrilled with her newfound power, but she soon discovers that every wish she makes comes with a deadly consequence. The movie opens with a flashback to the death of Clare's mother, who committed suicide in front of her daughter. Clare lives with her father, Jonathan (Ryan Phillippe), who is a dumpster diver and often brings home items that he finds. One day he brings home an old Chinese music box that he found while scavenging.

After her friends notice the music box, they tell Clare that it has Chinese letters on it that translate to "Seven Wishes." Intrigued, Clare makes her first wish - for her school bully to "just rot." The bully develops necrotizing fasciitis and dies shortly after. Clare and her friends realize the power of the music box and begin making wishes. However, they start to learn that every wish has a deadly consequence.

As Clare continues to make wishes, she soon realizes that the deaths surrounding her are not coincidences. Her friends start to turn on her, and even her relationship with her father becomes strained as he tries to intervene and stop her from making any more wishes.

The film takes a dark turn as Clare becomes obsessed with making wishes, despite the clear danger that comes with it. She is warned by Ryan Hui (Ki Hong Lee), a classmate and expert on Chinese culture, about the "blood price" that comes with every wish. Clare ignores his warnings and continues to make dangerous and deadly wishes, which leads to more and more tragedy.

As the movie progresses, Clare's compulsion to make more wishes only increases, leading to the ultimate sacrifice of those closest to her. The music box's power ultimately consumes Clare, and she is left alone, mourning the loss of the people she cared about.

Overall, Wish Upon is a thrilling horror movie that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie's unique storyline, combined with the talented performances of the cast, makes for an enjoyable and suspenseful experience. The movie's message about the dangers of playing God and the consequences that come with it is a timeless story that has been told many times before, but Wish Upon puts a fresh twist on it. The movie's cinematography and soundtrack also add a chilling effect and create the perfect mood for a horror movie. If you're a fan of horror or thriller movies, Wish Upon is definitely worth the watch.

Wish Upon is a 2017 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.1 and a MetaScore of 32.
