Well Done Abba is a 2009 Indian social-comedy film directed by Shyam Benegal, starring Boman Irani, Minissha Lamba, and Sammir Dattani. The film is a satire on the government's bureaucratic system, corruption, and red tape. The movie revolves around Armaan Ali (Boman Irani), a driver with the Transport Corporation. He lives in a small village in Andhra Pradesh with his daughter Muskaan (Minissha Lamba). Armaan is often frustrated with the corrupt system and indifferent government officials.
One day, Armaan applies for a loan to build a well for his village as the village is often plagued by water shortages. However, the bureaucracy and corruption of the system make it almost impossible for Armaan to get the loan. In order to get the loan sanctioned, Armaan decides to approach the higher authorities.
He embarks on a journey to Mumbai to meet his boss, who has gone on a leave, and his boss's boss, who is known to be strict and unforgiving. Along the way, he meets several interesting characters, including a TV journalist (played by Ila Arun) who is investigating a scam involving the state government.
Armaan uses his wit and humor to navigate through the system and finally manages to reach his destination in Mumbai. However, things don't go as planned, and Armaan ends up in a comic situation, which results in his arrest. He is jailed for a crime he did not commit.
The movie then takes a serious turn as Armaan realizes the plight of the millions of people who are trapped in the country's legal system. He decides to use his knowledge and experience to fight for justice not just for himself but for all those who are victims of the system.
The movie is a reflection of the Indian society and the issues it faces. It shows the struggles of the common man who is often at the mercy of the system. The movie also highlights the importance of standing up for what is right and the power of the individual in bringing about change.
The performances of the lead actors are brilliant. Boman Irani, as always, is outstanding in his role as Armaan. He brings a certain charm and humor to the character, which makes the audience root for him. Minissha Lamba delivers a fine performance as Muskaan. Her chemistry with Boman Irani is heartwarming.
The music of the movie is composed by Shantanu Moitra, and the lyrics are written by Ashok Mishra. The songs are simple yet catchy and add to the overall appeal of the movie.
Overall, Well Done Abba is a must-watch movie. It is a perfect blend of humor, satire, and social commentary. The movie will make you laugh, cry, and think. It is a well-crafted movie which highlights the problems faced by the common man in India's bureaucratic system.
