In the 2008 film Vipers, a small town in Colorado is terrorized by a pack of genetically mutated vipers. The movie begins with a scene at a local university where genetic experimentation is being conducted. The research team, led by Dr. Collins (Tara Reid), has genetically altered vipers in the hopes of creating a species that can resist poison and diseases.

However, a freak accident occurs during the experiment, causing the vipers to escape and wreak havoc in the nearby town. The sheriff, Vic (Jonathan Scarfe), is tasked with containing the threat and protecting the town's residents from the deadly creatures. Together with Dr. Collins and her team, they must find a way to stop the vipers before they cause more damage.

As the movie progresses, the vipers become more and more aggressive, attacking anyone who comes in their path. The townspeople are forced to stay inside as the vipers roam the streets, a menacing presence always at the forefront of their minds. But the vipers are not the only threat to the town, as evidence begins to surface that suggests Dr. Collins and her team may have played a role in the accident that led to the vipers' escape.

Tension builds as the characters navigate through their own suspicions and fears. The stakes become even higher as it is revealed that the vipers are not only deadly but also reproduce at an alarming rate, making the situation even more dire.

One of the main themes touched upon in the movie is the concept of playing God. Dr. Collins is portrayed as a scientist who is so consumed with the idea of creating something new and innovative that she does not consider the consequences of her actions. The movie serves as a warning of how dangerous it is to tamper with nature, imploring viewers to consider the potential dangers of unchecked scientific experimentation.

The acting in Vipers is overall solid, with Tara Reid and Jonathan Scarfe delivering convincing performances. Corbin Bernsen's character, Mayor Gordon, provides humorous moments throughout the film as the town's leader trying to keep citizens calm amidst the chaos.

As far as special effects go, the computer-generated images of the vipers are not the most convincing, but they still provide enough realism to generate moments of suspense and fear. The film excels in building a sense of atmosphere, with the vipers serving as living, breathing threats lurking in the shadows, a palpable sense of danger always present.

Overall, Vipers is an entertaining thriller that keeps viewers on edge with its tense and suspenseful moments. While it may not be a groundbreaking film, it succeeds in telling an engaging story with a cautionary message.

Vipers is a 2008 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.3.
