Veere Di Wedding is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language buddy comedy film directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Nikhil Dwivedi. The film features an ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsania in lead roles. The movie revolves around four young women, Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor), Avni (Sonam Kapoor), Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar), and Meera (Shikha Talsania), who reunite after ten years to celebrate Kalindi's wedding in Delhi. The four friends, who are dealing with their own individual issues, come together to support each other and navigate through the challenges of life.
Kalindi, who has struggled to commit to a relationship for years, finally accepts her boyfriend Rishabh's (Sumeet Vyas) marriage proposal. However, she soon realizes that the path to marriage is not as simple as it seems, and she must confront her fears and insecurities before she can walk down the aisle.
Avni, on the other hand, is a successful lawyer who is constantly reminded by her family that she is past her prime and must find a suitable husband soon. She struggles with the pressure to get married and conform to societal norms, while also dealing with her own commitment issues.
Sakshi is a party girl who enjoys living life on her own terms. She is dealing with the fallout of a messy divorce and trying to find herself again after losing her sense of identity in her failed marriage.
Meera, who is based in America, is dealing with a troubled marriage, and is hiding the fact from her friends. She is struggling to deal with the cultural differences between her and her husband, and is battling loneliness and depression.
The movie explores themes such as feminism, female empowerment, and the complexities of modern relationships. It shows the struggles and triumphs of the four friends as they navigate through their individual journeys and come together to celebrate their friendship.
The performances of the four lead actresses are commendable. Kareena Kapoor shines as the independent yet vulnerable Kalindi, while Sonam Kapoor delivers a nuanced performance as the career-oriented Avni. Swara Bhaskar's portrayal of Sakshi's confidence and vulnerability is also noteworthy. Shikha Talsania, who is relatively unknown, makes a strong impression as the quirky and lovable Meera.
The movie also features an impressive supporting cast, including actors such as Sumeet Vyas, Vishwas Kini, and Vivek Mushran. The music, composed by Shashwat Sachdev and Vishal Mishra, is peppy and catchy, adding to the overall charm of the movie.
Veere Di Wedding is a refreshing addition to the buddy-comedy genre, and challenges the conventional portrayal of women in Bollywood movies. It is a light-hearted and entertaining watch, that also manages to deliver a message about the importance of friendship and female solidarity.
