Upside Down is a science-fiction, romance movie that was released in 2012. It is directed by Juan Solanas and stars Jim Sturgess, Kirsten Dunst, and Timothy Spall. The movie is set in two different worlds that are separated by gravity. One world is called Up Top and is known for its wealth, and the other is Down Below that is poor and underdeveloped.

In the movie, we see two young lovers from opposite worlds, Adam and Eden, played by Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst. They first meet when they are kids when Adam is playing around on Up Top and sees a young Eden playing in her yard from Down Below. They are caught by Eden's father who warns Adam to never come back or he will be killed. Adam never forgets about Eden and constantly thinks of her.

Years later, Adam works at Trans World, which is a company that makes a substance that can defy gravity, and he uses it to go to Down Below. He sees Eden on TV and realizes that she is working at Trans World too. Adam decides to go to Down Below, where he meets with Eden again, and they start to fall in love.

The two worlds are different in terms of gravity since one of them is upside down. The rules of gravity are entirely different in these separate worlds, which adds a unique challenge to the characters' lives, and it affects their daily existence. The people on the Up Top have no idea about the people of Down Below, and the Down Below people despise the Up Top people.

As Adam and Eden's relationship begins to develop, they soon discover that their love is forbidden since they are from different worlds. They hence have to keep their relationship a secret. This causes issues in every aspect of their life, from just trying to be together to their jobs, and the people they interact with.

Throughout the movie, we are shown how the differences between the two worlds continue to cause problems for Adam and Eden. They must work together to find a way to be together and overcome the challenges of their different worlds.

The movie has excellent visual effects that create stunning imagery of dual worlds with opposite gravitational pulls. The camera work does a great job showing the contrast between the two worlds, with Up Top being bright and uptight, and Down Below being grimy and dark. The director makes us feel as if we are visiting these worlds too, creating a significant impact on the storytelling.

The acting in this movie is of high quality, with the leads Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst doing an excellent job portraying their roles. They deliver a high level of emotion in their performances, which makes us believe in their love, and the obstacles they face throughout the movie.

Upside Down is a one of a kind movie that tackles themes of societal class divides, love, and friendship. The film turns conventional love narratives on their head with the addition of these other themes, which creates a much more intricate story than we are used to when it comes to love stories. It is a movie that will leave you thinking long after the credits have rolled.

Upside Down is a 2012 romance movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.3 and a MetaScore of 45.
