Untraceable is a 2008 American thriller film that makes every cop's purpose of bringing a criminal to justice even harder. This is said because in this film, a man has created a website that cannot be hacked or traced, and gives him the power to stream live videos of whoever he wants to kill. This man gets his motivation to kill on his website by having an audience to watch his process.

An FBI Special Agent named Jennifer Marsh works with a man named Griffin Dowd in the department that saves people who lose their identity and other crimes similar to that. One night, these FBI Agents receive an anonymous tip about a website named KillWithMe.com and they visit it.

On the website, they see a live video about a kitten that is being brutally tortured and then killed. Although Marsh and Dowd try to bring the website's servers down, they soon discover that as soon as a server goes down, another one goes up to mirror its presence.

After the kitten's death, the violence and torture moves onto human beings. As more and more people populate the website because of their curiosity and love of horror movies, the kills get even more gruesome. Jennifer Marsh and the police hold a press conference with the intent of getting people to stay away from the website, but their purpose backfires and only increases the number of viewers.

The next videos are from the killer's basement and feature a helicopter pilot, a newscaster, and Griffin Dowd himself. The way they die is each unique for some reason; the helicopter pilot died from getting injections and bleeding to death, the newscaster died from from being burnt to death by heat lamps, and Griffin Dowd died from sulfuric acid solution.

At first, the police and FBI Agent think that these kills are random, but they find a link. The link is that the first two victims are selected together because they were initially a part of the filming or the presentation of a suicide by a junior college teacher. The teacher's son Owen Reilly was found to be unstable and was sent to a psychiatric hospital, although he was later released. When he was released, Owen took matters into his own hands and decided to prove a point based on that the public simply enjoys watching other people suffer. Which means that he created the website as a way of getting revenge for his father's death. After Jennifer Marsh realizes this, it astounds her that Griffin Dowd was killed because he had found out the information that she now knows.

Jennifer Marsh is captured by Owen Reilly, but she escapes being killed by swinging out of the way while she is being dangled from the ceiling. When she is free, she pins down Owen and shoots him to death on his website before police arrive to the scene. In the end, Jennifer Marsh flashes her FBI badge to the public and then the public's questions arise as comments on the website.

Untraceable is a 2008 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.2 and a MetaScore of 32.
