Universal Soldier is a 1992 sci-fi action movie that stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren as two soldiers who were killed during the Vietnam War and then brought back to life and enhanced by the government to create the ultimate fighting force. The movie is directed by Roland Emmerich and also stars Ally Walker as a journalist who uncovers a sinister plot involving the super-soldiers.

The film begins with a flashback to the Vietnam War, where Van Damme's character, Luc Deveraux, and Lundgren's character, Andrew Scott, are killed by each other in combat. Their bodies are then taken by the government and cryogenically frozen as part of a secret project to create a new breed of soldiers known as Universal Soldiers.

Years later, Deveraux and Scott are brought back to life and reprogrammed to obey orders without question. They are part of a highly classified mission to test the effectiveness of the Universal Soldiers program. The government plans to use the soldiers to carry out covert operations around the world, without any risk of losing American lives.

As the Universal Soldiers are being tested, Deveraux starts to have flashbacks to his past life as a human, which triggers his natural instincts and emotions. He begins to question his existence and the orders he is given. This leads to him breaking free from his programming and going rogue, while Scott stays loyal to the program and the orders he is given.

Deveraux meets a TV journalist named Veronica Roberts (Ally Walker) and convinces her to help him expose the truth about the Universal Soldiers. Together, they embark on a dangerous mission to uncover the secret behind the program and stop the government from continuing to produce the enhanced soldiers.

The action scenes in Universal Soldier are intense and well-choreographed, with plenty of hand-to-hand combat and gunfights. Van Damme and Lundgren both deliver memorable performances as the two former soldiers, with Lundgren making for a particularly menacing villain.

But the movie also has a darker side, as it explores the idea of soldiers being turned into mindless killing machines through science and technology. The idea of resurrection and manipulating human life for military gain raises several ethical questions, making the movie more than just an action flick.

Overall, Universal Soldier is a thrilling and thought-provoking sci-fi action movie that stands the test of time. Its blend of action and philosophy makes it a worthwhile watch for fans of the genre or anyone interested in exploring the limits of science and the military.

Universal Soldier is a 1992 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1 and a MetaScore of 35.
