Underworld: Blood Wars is a 2016 action-horror film and the fifth installment in the Underworld franchise. The movie, directed by Anna Foerster, stars Kate Beckinsale as Selene, a vampire warrior who finds herself in the middle of a war between her kind and the Lycans, a race of werewolves. As the movie begins, Selene is on the run from both the Lycans and the vampires, who she betrayed in the previous movie. The vampires, led by Semira played by Lara Pulver, want Selene to help them fight off the Lycans, who have been gaining strength and have their eyes set on a new target: Selene's daughter, Eve, who has been missing for years.

Selene decides to seek the help of David, a vampire played by Theo James, who she met in the previous movie. David is skeptical of Selene at first, but eventually agrees to help her find Eve and protect her from the Lycans.

Meanwhile, the Lycans, led by Marius played by Tobias Menzies, are also on the hunt for Eve. Marius believes that Eve possesses a powerful bloodline that can be used to make Lycans immune to silver, which is deadly to them.

As the war between the vampires and the Lycans intensifies, Selene and David must fight alongside each other to protect Eve and put an end to the centuries-long feud between the two supernatural races.

One of the strengths of Underworld: Blood Wars is its action sequences, which are both intense and visually stunning. The movie is filled with fast-paced fight scenes, gun battles, and chase scenes that will surely satisfy fans of the series.

The performances are also solid across the board, with Kate Beckinsale delivering another strong turn as Selene. Theo James is a great addition to the cast as David, and he and Beckinsale have great chemistry on-screen.

Tobias Menzies is a standout as Marius, bringing a menacing presence to the role of the powerful Lycan leader. Lara Pulver is also great as Semira, a vampire who will stop at nothing to gain more power and influence within their community.

One of the weaknesses of the movie, however, is its plot. While the action scenes are thrilling, the story feels thin and underdeveloped at times. The movie moves at a fast pace, but as a result, some of the character motivations and plot points feel rushed or glossed over.

Additionally, fans of the franchise may find that the movie doesn't do enough to expand upon the series' mythology or add anything new to the formula.

Overall, Underworld: Blood Wars is a solid entry in the franchise for fans of the series. While it's not without its flaws, the movie delivers on its promises of action, and the performances are strong enough to keep viewers engaged throughout.

Underworld: Blood Wars is a 2017 fantasy movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 23.
