Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal is a 2001 direct-to-video thriller film that follows the story of a rock band known as Slade Craven, as they embark on a journey aboard a Boeing 747 jumbo jet. The band is on its way to a convention in Tokyo, where they plan to unveil their new album. Things turn sour, however, as a mysterious man named McGowan (played by recurring Turbulence actor Craig Sheffer) boards the plane with a massive cargo of deadly snakes.

As the plane takes off, the snakes are unleashed upon the unsuspecting passengers, causing panic and chaos on board. Soon enough, the pilots are incapacitated by the venomous creatures, leaving the fate of the plane and its passengers in the hands of Slade Craven and a handful of survivors. The crew must find a way to cooperate and fight against the snakes and the deadly consequences of their venom. Meanwhile, McGowan watches everything unfold from the safety of his control center on the ground, as he plans to use the incident as leverage for his own twisted agenda.

The film features a cast of familiar names, including Zak Santiago, Monika Schnarre, Sharon Alexander, and Gabrielle Anwar, who bring their own flair to the characters they portray. Santiago plays Dex, the band's charismatic leader, who quickly takes charge of the situation when the snakes attack. Schnarre plays Claire, a flight attendant who becomes Dex's love interest throughout the film. Alexander plays Shannon, a wealthy businesswoman who is not afraid to throw her weight around when it comes to survival. Anwar plays Teri Halloran, a fearless FBI agent who is on the hunt for McGowan and his accomplices.

The movie's director, Jorge Montesi, injects plenty of suspense and tension throughout the film, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats. The scenes on board the plane are expertly crafted, with the use of practical effects and real snakes adding an extra layer of authenticity to the horror. The pacing is brisk and never lags, providing a thrilling ride for viewers from beginning to end.

Despite its low-budget origins, Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal manages to deliver a uniquely entertaining experience that is sure to satisfy fans of action, horror, and thriller films alike. The film is not without faults, with some of the characters being underdeveloped or one-note, and some of the dialogue feeling a bit on-the-nose. However, the film's redeeming qualities more than make up for its shortcomings, making it a worthy addition to the Turbulence franchise.

Overall, Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal is a fun, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride that may not win any awards or critical acclaim, but will certainly satiate the appetite of those looking for a solid B-movie experience. With its intense action sequences, eerie atmosphere, and talented cast, the film proves to be a worthy entry into the Turbulence canon, and a great way to spend an evening with friends who are up for a wild and wacky ride.

Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal is a 2001 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.6.
