Pete Ramsey is a coal miner and his wife is not happy with their lowly societal position. She urges him to go after the superintendent's position in order to make more money and he complies. His only wish is to make his wife happy. Victory, Ramsey’s wife, is still not satisfied and wants to move up the ladder faster. In order to do so, she has an affair with the owner of the mines. Anything could happen now, but a tornado threatens to kill them all and Victory must take a cold hard look at herself and assess her actions.
