Torment is a horror thriller movie released in 2013 directed by Jordan Barker. It stars Katharine Isabelle, Robin Dunne, and Peter DaCunha among others. The movie revolves around a family that moves into a secluded cottage to escape their hectic city life. However, they soon realize that their peaceful vacation has turned into a nightmare.

The movie begins with a happy family: Cory (Robin Dunne), his wife Sarah (Katharine Isabelle) and their son Liam (Peter DaCunha) moving into a cottage in the woods. Everything seems perfect at first, but it quickly turns creepy when Liam discovers an old doll in the woods. The doll turns out to be a toy that was owned by a little girl who died in the cottage. Soon after, they start experiencing terrifying events that threaten their safety.

The family is stalked and terrorized by a group of psychopaths wearing animal masks who seem to have a sinister connection to the girl who owned the doll. They brutally torture the family and turn their vacation into a fight for survival. The family is forced to confront their worst fears to survive and to understand the evil that's etched in the cottage's walls.

The movie's eeriness is carried forward through its impeccable cinematography and color grading which efficiently creates a sense of dread and fear in the viewers' minds. This sense of impending doom is effectively carried forward in each scene, and the jump scares with each attack from the masked villains adding to the thrill.

The movie focuses primarily on the relationship between the family members, especially the bond shared between Cory and his son Liam. The kid, played by Peter DaCunha, delivers a brilliant performance as the scared child who tries to hold on to his courage in the face of danger. Katharine Isabelle portrays the mother's character, Sarah, who is strong and determined to protect her family. Robin Dunne brilliantly portrays the father's role who's terrified yet trying to stand up to the psychopaths.

The killers in the movie are shown to have a creepy obsession with animals and their faces are hidden behind animal masks. This aspect adds to their already ominous presence on screen, creating a level of fear that makes the movie unforgettable.

The music score for the movie is impressive, perfectly adding to the buildup of terror and creating the appropriate mood at critical moments. The sound design and background score combined to deliver an exceptional experience, overflowing with tension, and terror.

Overall, Torment delivers an edge of seat horror experience that is sure to leave an impact on its viewers. The plot is thrilling and twisted, and the characters' performances are top-notch. The cinematography, background score, and sound design are all done exceptionally, creating a sense of fear that encompasses every scene.
