Tintorettor Jishu is a 2008 Bengali-language thriller film directed by Sandip Ray and starring Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Bibhu Bhattacharya. The film is an adaptation of the Satyajit Ray novel, Tintorettor Jishu, which is part of the popular Feluda series. The plot revolves around the exciting adventure of Feluda (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty), a private investigator, who is hired by one of his wealthy clients, Mahitosh Singha Roy, to find a lost painting by the famous Italian painter, Tintoretto. The painting was brought to India by the British, but it was stolen during the partition of Bengal in 1947. Desperate to recover the painting, Singha Roy offers Feluda a handsome sum of money to solve the mystery and get the Tintoretto painting back.
Feluda, along with his cousin and assistant Topshe (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), and the renowned playwright Jatayu (Bibhu Bhattacharya), sets out to find the lost painting. The trio starts digging deeper into the case, and soon they discover that the painting is not just a mere object of art but also holds a crucial piece of evidence for a much larger conspiracy.
As they follow the clues left behind, the trio faces numerous challenges, including a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the culprit. The investigation leads them to different parts of the country, from the bustling streets of Kolkata to the scenic beauty of Darjeeling. With each turn of events, the plot thickens, and Feluda and his team are forced to navigate through a series of obstacles to unravel the mystery.
The film director, Sandip Ray, does an excellent job of keeping the audience engaged throughout the film's runtime. The thrilling plot, along with the superb performances by the lead actors, makes for a truly entertaining experience. Sabyasachi Chakrabarty is perfectly cast as Feluda, and he brings the character to life with his meticulous attention to detail and subtle expressions. Parambrata Chattopadhyay's Topshe is equally brilliant, and he delivers a charming and convincing performance.
Bibhu Bhattacharya, who plays the quirky playwright Jatayu, steals the show with his comic timing and his portrayal of the eccentric character. The supporting cast also plays their roles well and adds depth to the story.
The film's cinematography is stunning, capturing the beauty of the locations and enhancing the overall visual appeal of the film. The background score and music by Sandip Ray and Bikram Ghosh complement the story perfectly, adding to the film's charm.
Overall, Tintorettor Jishu is a well-crafted thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end. The film effectively captures the essence of Satyajit Ray's original novel, and it is a definite must-watch for fans of detective movies and Bengali cinema alike.
