Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is a 1974 crime-comedy film directed by Michael Cimino and starring Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges, and George Kennedy. The film follows two drifters who come together for a heist, and soon find themselves on the run from the law, as well as the gang who hired them for the job. The film begins with Thunderbolt (Eastwood), a retired thief, living anonymously as a preacher in a small Montana town. One day, a young man named Lightfoot (Bridges) breaks into Thunderbolt's home looking for shelter. The two men quickly become friends, and Lightfoot convinces Thunderbolt to come out of retirement for one last heist.

The heist they plan is to rob a Montana bank, which they believe is an easy target since it's in a remote location. However, things go awry when they discover that the bank has already been robbed, and the money they were after is no longer there. They soon realize that they have been set up by their employer, a gang led by Red Leary (Kennedy).

As they dodge the police and Red's men, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot learn more about each other's pasts. Thunderbolt, it turns out, had once been a successful thief, but retired after being shot during a robbery. Lightfoot, on the other hand, is a young drifter who has never had a real job, but is eager to make something of himself.

The relationship between Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is at the heart of the film. Thunderbolt is initially reluctant to take Lightfoot under his wing, but soon comes to see him as a surrogate son. Lightfoot, for his part, idolizes Thunderbolt, and sees him as a father figure.

Meanwhile, Red's gang is closing in on them, and the police are hot on their trail. The final act of the film is a tense chase, culminating in a shootout that leaves many dead.

Overall, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is an entertaining film that showcases the talents of its leading men. Eastwood, in particular, is impressive as the grizzled veteran, while Bridges shines as the youthful, charismatic Lightfoot. Kennedy is also memorable as the ruthless gang leader. The film is notable for its blend of comedy and action, as well as its exploration of the relationship between two very different men. It's well worth a watch for fans of 70s crime films.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is a 1974 crime movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 56 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.0 and a MetaScore of 62.
