Silvestre is also great as the charismatic nightclub owner who may have more to do with the murder than he lets on, and Ahn steals several scenes as the enigmatic Max Fabian. The supporting cast is solid, and Le Borg's direction keeps the plot moving at a brisk pace.

Despite its relatively obscure status today, "The White Orchid" is a gem of a film noir that deserves to be seen by fans of the genre. It has all of the dark, atmospheric qualities that make classic noirs so compelling, and its romantic subplot adds an extra layer of intrigue to the proceedings.
