Rainer Wenger is a teacher who loves to get his students to see the nuances in what he teaches. During a project week, he comes up with an experiment to explain the rise and spread of totalitarian governments. Soon what started out as harmless notions such as discipline and community start to converge into a real movement. The students begin to place themselves in castes and ostracize those who they deem are lesser than them. When the new “society” that has been formed becomes violent, Wenger tries to end the experiment, but it’s too late. The Wave movement is now growing out of control and begins to spill outside the boundaries of the school and into the real world.

The Wave is a 2011 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.6.
