The Trouble with Harry is a 1955 black comedy directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. Set in a small town in Vermont, the film tells the story of a dead body that keeps turning up in various places, causing confusion and panic among the townspeople. It stars John Forsythe, Shirley MacLaine, Edmund Gwenn, Mildred Natwick, and Jerry Mathers.

The film opens with a shot of Harry's dead body lying in the woods, apparently killed by a stray bullet. A series of misadventures begin when various characters stumble upon the body and try to dispose of it in their own way, only to find it resurfacing in a different location each time.

Among the characters involved in the trouble with Harry is a young woman named Jennifer Rogers (Shirley MacLaine), who thinks she may have accidentally killed Harry while out on a hunting trip. She enlists the help of a local artist, Sam Marlowe (John Forsythe), to dispose of the body. However, their efforts are repeatedly foiled by other characters who discover the body and try to move it themselves.

As the film progresses, we are introduced to more and more characters with their own motives for wanting Harry to disappear. There is Captain Wiles (Edmund Gwenn), an elderly man who accidentally shot Harry while hunting, and who is convinced that he has committed a crime. There is also Miss Gravely (Mildred Natwick), a spinster who is convinced that Harry was her long-lost love, and who becomes increasingly obsessed with him as the story unfolds.

Despite the dark subject matter, The Trouble with Harry is a lighthearted and whimsical film, full of Hitchcock's trademark humor and wit. The film's stunning location in the Vermont countryside provides a beautiful backdrop to the unfolding drama, and the performances by the entire cast are uniformly excellent.

John Forsythe, in particular, is a standout as the charming and witty Sam Marlowe, who becomes increasingly entangled in the bizarre saga of Harry's corpse. Shirley MacLaine, in her film debut, is also outstanding as the quirky and charming Jennifer Rogers, whose innocence and beauty masks a darker side.

The Trouble with Harry is a true gem of a film, full of clever twists and turns, and boasting one of Hitchcock's most memorable scores. The film's combination of dark subject matter and lighthearted humor may not be to everyone's taste, but for those who enjoy a good black comedy, The Trouble with Harry is a must-see.

The Trouble with Harry is a 1955 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.0 and a MetaScore of 74.
