The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a horror film released in 1986. Directed by Tobe Hooper, it is the sequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie from 1974. The movie stars Dennis Hopper, Caroline Williams, and Jim Siedow, along with Bill Moseley and Bill Johnson. Set 14 years after the original movie, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 starts with radio DJ Vanita "Stretch" Brock (Caroline Williams) investigating a gruesome murder that takes place during one of her late-night broadcasts. She inadvertently records the event, which catches the attention of the killer, a psychotic chainsaw-wielding maniac named Leatherface. Stretch becomes Leatherface's new obsession, and he starts targeting her and her colleagues at the radio station.
Meanwhile, a former Texas Ranger named Lefty Enright (Dennis Hopper) is out for revenge against the Sawyer family, who he believes were responsible for the death of his niece and nephew in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He has been tracking the family for years and sees the new murders as an opportunity to finally take them down.
As Leatherface continues his attacks, Stretch and Lefty join forces to try and stop him and bring down the entire Sawyer family once and for all. The rest of the film is a tense, gory battle between the two sides, with plenty of chainsaw action and jump scares.
Unlike the first movie, which was known for its low budget and gritty, realistic style, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 takes a much more over-the-top approach. The acting and dialogue are often exaggerated and cartoonish, and the violence is much more graphic and over-the-top.
One of the standout performances in the movie is Dennis Hopper's portrayal of Lefty Enright. Hopper brings his trademark intensity to the role, and his scenes are some of the most memorable in the film. Caroline Williams also does a great job as Stretch, who starts out as a typical horror movie damsel but becomes more complex and resourceful as the film progresses.
The film's special effects, particularly the gore and practical effects, are also worth mentioning. The scenes of Leatherface's killings are some of the most gruesome and memorable in horror movie history, and the makeup and set design are top-notch.
Overall, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a fun and gruesome horror movie that is definitely not for the faint of heart. While it may not have the same raw, realistic edge as the original, it more than makes up for it with its over-the-top gore, memorable characters, and iconic chainsaw action.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a 1986 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6 and a MetaScore of 42.
