The Tale of Tsar Saltan is a 1984 Soviet fantasy film that is based on the eponymous fairy tale by Alexander Pushkin. Unbeknownst to the bumblebee-Tsar, Prince Guidon has fallen in love with a beautiful princess, whom he cannot marry without the tsar's permission. The tsar realizes his folly, transforms back into his human form and gives his blessing to the couple. In a climactic battle, Tsar Saltan is defeated, and Gvidon and Militrisa return home with their son.

The film is directed by Ivan Ivanov-Vano, a renowned animator who co-founded the Soyuzmultfilm studio.
