The Sentinel is a 2006 action crime thriller film directed by Clark Johnson and starring Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, and Kim Basinger. The storyline of the movie revolves around a Secret Service agent named Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas), who is deemed a hero for saving the life of President Ballentine (David Rasche) years ago. However, a conspiracy linked to the assassination of the president starts to unravel, and Pete finds himself at the center of it all. Meanwhile, fellow Secret Service agent David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) is tasked with investigating the potential threat to the president's life and has to decide whether to trust his mentor, Pete Garrison. Secret Service agent Jill Marin (Eva Longoria) also becomes involved in the investigation and develops a romantic interest in Garrison.

As the investigation progresses, Garrison realizes that he is being framed and must find out who is trying to kill the president before it's too late. He must navigate a web of political intrigue, betrayal, and danger, using his instincts and knowledge of the Secret Service to survive.

The film has a tense and fast-paced atmosphere, with plenty of action scenes and intense moments. The chemistry between the cast is outstanding, with Michael Douglas perfectly portraying the hardened Secret Service agent, Pete Garrison. Kiefer Sutherland's character, David Breckinridge, provides an excellent contrast to Garrison as a younger, more idealistic agent who has to learn to navigate the murky waters of politics and power. Kim Basinger also delivers an excellent performance as the first lady who may have a hidden agenda.

The movie's plot keeps the viewer engaged throughout, with plenty of twists and turns that keep the suspense high. The action sequences are expertly choreographed and executed, with the film's climax being particularly thrilling.

The cinematography is excellent, and the movie's Washington, D.C. setting is utilized to great effect, adding to the film's realism and tension. The music score, composed by Christophe Beck, is also well-done and adds to the overall atmosphere of the movie.

Overall, The Sentinel is an entertaining and engaging crime thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The excellent cast, solid plot, and skillful direction make for a well-executed movie with plenty of action and suspense. If you're a fan of crime thrillers or action movies, The Sentinel is a must-see.
