The Secret of Marrowbone is a suspenseful horror film that was released in 2017. The movie is directed by Sergio G. Sánchez and stars George MacKay, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Heaton in the lead roles. The movie revolves around the Marrowbone family - four siblings and their mother who move to an old house in the countryside to escape from their troubled past.

The Marrowbone family consists of Jack (George MacKay), the eldest son who takes on the responsibilities of the family after the death of their father, Jane (Mia Goth) the eldest daughter who is mute, Billy (Charlie Heaton) the young boy who is the most fragile of all, and Sam (Matthew Stagg) the youngest son who is afraid of the dark. Their mother, Rose (Nicola Harrison), is terminally ill and dies shortly after they move to the new house.

To avoid being separated and sent to foster homes, the children decide to keep their mother's death a secret and continue living in the house. However, strange things start happening around the house - doors creaking, furniture moving, and footsteps in the attic. As the siblings try to uncover the mystery behind the strange occurrences, they also discover secrets from their past that threaten to tear them apart.

A pivotal character in the movie is Allie (Anya Taylor-Joy), who befriends Jack and eventually becomes romantically involved with him. Allie adds a layer of complexity to the movie, as she has her own troubled past and her presence brings out the skeletons in the Marrowbone family's closet.

The Secret of Marrowbone is a tale of survival, family, love, and secrets. The movie is well-shot, with the creepy old house and the surrounding countryside adding to the eerie atmosphere. The performances by the actors are also noteworthy, with George MacKay and Anya Taylor-Joy delivering strong performances as the lead characters.

The movie is not without its flaws, however. Some of the plot points feel rushed and underdeveloped, leaving the audience with unanswered questions. The ending also leaves much to be desired, as it feels abrupt and unsatisfying.

Overall, The Secret of Marrowbone is a decent horror movie that keeps the audience engaged with its suspenseful plot and well-executed scares. While it may not be a groundbreaking movie in the horror genre, it is a solid addition to the genre and worth a watch for fans of the genre.
