Victoria Page is a young ballerina who is absolutely devoted to her art, and she needs to be because her impresario, Boris Lermontov, is extremely demanding. Her dedication has her poised to become a true star, but then she falls in love with Julian Craster, the composer of the ballet The Red Shoes. Now that she is so close to achieving her dream, she finds herself torn between loyalty to Boris and her blossoming love for Julian. She cannot have them both. Instead, she must decide whether she would rather have true love or a successful career in ballet.
