In 1979, director Richard Compton brought together a star-studded cast for his post-apocalyptic action film, The Ravagers. The movie is set in a future where the world has been devastated by a catastrophic war that has left the planet barren and virtually uninhabitable. Resources are scarce, and survivors have grouped together in small, isolated communities, battling each other for survival.

Richard Harris stars as Falk, the leader of one such community. Falk is a tough, grizzled veteran who has fought his way to the top of the pecking order through sheer force of will. His people live in a fortified compound, eking out a meager existence by scavenging for whatever they can find.

Ernest Borgnine plays Rann, a former soldier who stumbles across Falk's community while he's out scavenging. Rann is a loner who's been wandering the wasteland, trying to survive on his own. He's initially wary of the community, but he's drawn to Falk's no-nonsense attitude and the way he runs things.

Falk, in turn, recognizes Rann's value as a skilled fighter and offers him a place in his community. Rann takes Falk up on his offer and begins to integrate himself into the community. He quickly becomes one of Falk's most trusted lieutenants.

But not everyone is happy with Rann's arrival. Ann Turkel plays the beautiful and scheming Heather, a woman who has her sights set on Falk's leadership position. She sees Rann as a threat to her own ambitions and sets about trying to turn the rest of the community against him.

As tensions rise and tempers flare, Falk and Rann are forced to confront not just their enemies outside the compound, but the ones within it as well. The Ravagers is a tense and action-packed thriller that explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and survival in a harsh and unforgiving world.

The film expertly portrays a world that has been destroyed by war, where the few survivors must fight tooth and nail for the resources they need to survive. The desolate landscapes and barren wastelands that the characters traverse lend a feeling of isolation and desolation to the film.

The action scenes in The Ravagers are well choreographed and hard-hitting. The film doesn't shy away from violence, with plenty of gunfights, fistfights, and even a few explosions thrown in for good measure. Richard Harris and Ernest Borgnine both turn in impressive performances as two tough-as-nails survivors who will stop at nothing to ensure their community's survival.

Ann Turkel, meanwhile, is excellent as the conniving and manipulative Heather. She's a character who will stop at nothing to get what she wants, and Turkel brings just the right amount of venom to the role.

Despite its bleak setting and emphasis on violence, The Ravagers does have a few moments of levity. There are a few scenes that play up the comedic tension between Rann and Heather, and there are a few instances of dark humor that help break up the tension.

All in all, The Ravagers is an entertaining and action-packed movie that delivers exactly what it promises. It's a gritty, post-apocalyptic thrill ride that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

The Ravagers is a 1979 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.6.
