The Plague is a 2006 horror-thriller film directed by Hal Masonberg and starring James Van Der Beek, Ivana Milicevic, Brad Hunt, and Joshua Close. Set in a small town in the United States, the film follows the sudden outbreak of a deadly disease that spreads quickly and kills its victims within a matter of hours. The opening scenes of the movie show a young boy collapsing and dying suddenly in the middle of a crowded street, followed by dozens of other people experiencing the same symptoms. Health officials are immediately called in to investigate the outbreak, but they are unable to find a cure or a connection between the victims.

The movie revolves around a handful of survivors who band together to try and escape the town before the plague kills them all. James Van Der Beek plays Tom, a doctor who is trying to find a cure for the disease while also protecting his wife Jean (Ivana Milicevic) and their daughter. Brad Hunt plays Sam, a skeptical journalist who is covering the outbreak and becomes one of the survivors. Joshua Close plays Jack, a young man who is searching for his missing sister.

As the plot unfolds, the survivors face one hurdle after another as they try to escape the town. They must navigate through groups of infected people who have turned into violent, zombie-like creatures, and deal with other survivors who are willing to do anything to survive, including killing their fellow survivors. Meanwhile, they also come closer to uncovering the truth behind the outbreak, which involves a government conspiracy and a secret military base.

The Plague is a tense and terrifying movie that does a great job of building suspense and keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The special effects and makeup are well done, with the zombie-like infected people looking particularly frightening. The performances by the cast are also strong, with James Van Der Beek and Ivana Milicevic delivering strong, emotional performances as the couple trying to protect their family.

One of the film’s strengths is its ability to create a sense of claustrophobia and isolation, as the survivors are trapped in the town and must rely on each other to survive. The tension between the characters adds to the already high-stress situation, creating a feeling of dread that permeates the entire movie.

The Plague does an excellent job of blending different genres together. It’s a horror film with elements of action and drama, as well as a conspiracy thriller. At the same time, it's also a great commentary on human nature and how people react under extreme circumstances. The film explores themes of fear, trust, and the fragility of societal order.

Although The Plague may not be the most original movie ever made, it’s a solid and entertaining horror film that certainly delivers its share of chills and thrills. It's definitely worth watching for fans of the genre and anyone who loves a good zombie flick.

The Plague is a 2006 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5.
