The People That Time Forgot is a 1977 adventure fantasy film directed by Kevin Connor, based on the novel of the same name by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The film is a sequel to the 1975 film, The Land That Time Forgot. The story follows a group of adventurers who set out on an expedition to the Arctic to find a missing friend. They find a hidden tropical land beyond the ice where prehistoric creatures and a lost tribe of humans exist. The group is stranded on this strange island and becomes embroiled in a conflict between rival tribes. The leader of one tribe, Khasa (played by Sarah Douglas), captures one of the group and forces him to fight in a gladiatorial arena. The rest of the group sets out to rescue their friend and escape the island, encountering dangers such as a massive plesiosaur and a volcano about to erupt.

The film stars Patrick Wayne as Bowen Tyler, the leader of the expedition and son of the protagonist from the previous film. Doug McClure returns as the American engineer Ben McBride, and Sarah Douglas plays the villainous Khasa. The cast is rounded out by Thorley Walters, Shane Rimmer, and David Prowse.

The People That Time Forgot is a product of its time, with low-budget special effects and cheesy dialogue. However, it still manages to be an entertaining adventure story. The prehistoric creatures are brought to life with stop-motion animation, and while they may not be entirely convincing, they are still impressive for the time. The film also features practical effects such as miniatures and pyrotechnics for the volcano eruption.

One of the strengths of the film is its imaginative world-building. The island is filled with strange creatures and cultures, including a tribe that worships a dinosaur skull and a race of telepathic goblin-like creatures. The film also explores themes of evolution and the limits of human knowledge.

The performances are a mixed bag. Patrick Wayne is serviceable as the hero, but lacks the charisma of his father, John Wayne. Doug McClure is his usual charming self, injecting some much-needed humor into the film. However, the standout performance is Sarah Douglas as the villainous Khasa. She brings a seductive menace to the role and steals every scene she's in.

The plot is straightforward and predictable, but it moves at a brisk pace and never overstays its welcome. The film clocks in at just under 90 minutes, and while it may not be a classic, it's an enjoyable throwback to the adventure serials of the 1930s and 40s.

Overall, The People That Time Forgot is a fun adventure romp that fans of old-school fantasy films will enjoy. It may not have the polish or spectacle of modern blockbusters, but it makes up for it with a sense of wonder and imagination. If you're looking for a way to escape to a bygone era of cinema, this film is worth checking out.

The People That Time Forgot is a 1977 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.4 and a MetaScore of 34.
