The Myth is a 2005 Chinese-Hong Kong action-adventure film directed by Stanley Tong, starring Bing Shao, Jackie Chan, and Weixing Yao. The film tells the story of Jack, an archaeologist and adventurer, who becomes obsessed with a legend from ancient China about a mystical statue that possesses the power to grant immortality. Jack's journey takes him from the caves of India to the frozen landscapes of China, as he seeks to uncover the truth behind the legend and ultimately discover the secret to eternal life.

The film follows two parallel storylines - one set in modern-day China and the other in ancient China. In the present day, Jack is a modern-day hero who works for a wealthy Hong Kong businessman as an archaeologist, researcher, and adventurer. He is tasked with finding the mythical sword of Meng Yi, a legendary warrior who, according to legend, ascended into the heavens and joined the gods. However, Jack's real aim is to find the secret to eternal life, which he believes is hidden somewhere in the past.

In the past, we see the story of Meng Yi played out as he rises from humble origins to become a mighty warrior, renowned for his bravery and skill in battle. However, he becomes disillusioned with war, and seeks to find a way to achieve eternal life so that he can enjoy the fruits of his success forever. Meng Yi is aided on his quest by the beautiful Moon Goddess, who has fallen in love with him and promises to help him find the key to immortality.

As the story unfolds, we see Jack gradually piecing together the various clues and secrets that point the way to the statue of the Moon Goddess, which is believed to hold the key to eternal life. During his journey, he is aided by a young woman named Ok-soo, who works as a translator and also happens to be a martial arts expert. Together they brave various dangers and obstacles, ranging from treacherous cave systems to a motorcycle chase on the streets of Hong Kong.

As the climax approaches, both the modern-day and ancient storylines converge, as Jack finally discovers the truth about Meng Yi and the statue of the Moon Goddess. In a thrilling final showdown, he must face off against his employer, who has also become obsessed with the legend of the statue, and who will stop at nothing to get his hands on it.

Overall, The Myth is a visually sumptuous, action-packed adventure that is sure to thrill fans of martial arts movies and epic tales of heroism and adventure. The film's stunning scenery, intricate fight scenes, and standout performances from its talented cast make it a must-see for anyone interested in Chinese cinema or the works of director Stanley Tong.
