In 2005 NASA offered an international challenge to scientists and engineers to compete with materials, and construct a hub between Earth and outer space called the Space Elevator. In response to this gigantic engineering goal, a team of aerospace scientists and technologists stepped up to the challenge. Facing-off against global competitors, this team has designed a prelude to the major component for the Space Elevator: a tether stretched 60,000 miles from Earth's surface into space. Thus far in history, the Wright brothers gave birth to the age of flight, JFK has brought us to the moon...as humankind treks forward in space exploration, Team Astroaraneae's impact is felt by officially creating the strongest rope in the world. Stretching between the balance of their personal and work lives, they must set the benchmark to hold the world of space travel on a string.
