Arthur Bishop (Charles Bronson) is a professional hitman who takes on a young apprentice, Steve McKenna (Jan-Michael Vincent). Steve is the son of Bishop's former mentor and he's looking to get revenge for his father's murder. Bishop trains Steve in the art of murder and together, they work on their hitman assignments. Bishop is a perfectionist and a man of few words. He's meticulous in his planning and execution of each job, never leaving a trace or a witness behind. When he takes on Steve as his apprentice, he teaches him the same skills and techniques. The two become close, but Bishop never lets his guard down, knowing that Steve is still seeking revenge.

The first hit they work on together is a wealthy businessman who has connections with the mob. Steve is an eager pupil and wants to impress Bishop with his skills. However, things don't go as planned and the two end up in a dangerous situation. Bishop is quick on his feet and is able to get them both out alive, but Steve is rattled by the experience.

As they continue to work together, Steve becomes more and more reckless. He starts to take unnecessary risks and doesn't follow Bishop's careful planning. This puts both of their lives in danger and Bishop realizes that he needs to take action.

The second half of the movie focuses on Bishop's decision to eliminate Steve. He knows that his apprentice has become a liability and that he can no longer trust him. Bishop plans the perfect hit and lures Steve into a trap. However, things don't go as planned and Bishop finds himself in a dangerous situation.

The Mechanic is a tense thriller that showcases the talents of Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent. Bronson's stoic portrayal of Bishop is unforgettable and Vincent brings a youthful energy to the film. The two have a great chemistry on screen and make for a compelling duo.

The movie is filled with action-packed sequences and tense moments. Each hit that Bishop and Steve perform is meticulously planned out, making it all the more thrilling to watch. The final act of the movie is particularly intense, as Bishop and Steve face off in a deadly showdown.

The Mechanic is a classic action movie that has stood the test of time. It's a must-watch for fans of Charles Bronson and anyone who enjoys a good thriller. The film has been remade in 2011, but the original is still the best. If you haven't seen The Mechanic, be sure to add it to your watchlist.
