In Three Rivers, Texas in the days at the end of World War II, a decorated Mexican-American U.S. military veteran who was killed in combat has no place to be laid to rest. His families is told by the town's only funeral parlor that they will not hold services for Mr. Longoria, despite his distinctive wartime record, because "the whites wouldn't like it."
This feature-length documentary film covers the trials the Longoria family went through to find a dignified burial for their fallen hero. The incident sparked nationwide protests among Mexican-Americans and Latinos, seeking equal rights and greater recognition for veterans of Latino descent who fought, and died, during World War II.
