In the movie The Kitchen, three women from Hell's Kitchen, New York, are left to fend for themselves when their husbands are sent to prison. Kathy (Melissa McCarthy), Ruby (Tiffany Haddish), and Claire (Elisabeth Moss) quickly realize how difficult it is to survive in their neighborhood without the protection of their husbands. They are constantly harassed and belittled by members of the Irish mob, who control the neighborhood and the businesses that operate there.

The women soon come up with an audacious plan to take control of the neighborhood and run the businesses themselves. They pool their resources and recruit other women from the neighborhood to help them. With the help of another woman who has connections with the criminal underworld, they start to take over legitimate businesses and turn them into lucrative fronts for illegal activities. They begin to make a lot of money and become very successful.

Through their newfound power and success, the women become increasingly ruthless and violent. They begin to clash with rival gangs and their own associates, who are not happy with the women's rise to power. The women must fight to keep their hold on the neighborhood and their newfound wealth, while also trying to mend their relationships with each other.

The Kitchen is a tense and violent crime drama that explores themes of female empowerment and the consequences of unchecked ambition. It features strong performances from its lead actresses, who bring complexity and depth to their characters. Berloff does an excellent job of portraying the harsh realities of life in Hell's Kitchen and the difficult choices that the women must make in order to survive. The film is shot in a gritty, realistic style that adds to the tension and the sense of danger that permeates the story.
