This picture tells the fascinating true story of a man who is seen by some as a hero and by other members of society as a stranger. The film conveys the tale of Jean Marie Lustiger, a Frenchman who is the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants. Being introduced to Catholicism at a very young age, Lustiger was also taught never to forget his Jewish roots. As such, he grew up with both religions. When Pope Jean Paul II names him Archbishop of Paris, Lustiger takes this opportunity to teach from the best of both religions. When nuns try to build a convent inside Auschwitz, he steps in and voices a strong opinion.
