This Italian comedy features a familiar character from traditional Italian folk stories, a clown named Toto. He and his son Ninetto are walking around the countryside one day when they encounter a crow who can speak. The crow spouts many left-wing intellectual theories, then tells the pair about two Franciscan friars commanded by St. Francis to preach love to the hawks and the sparrows. They continue on their journey, meeting an assortment of interesting characters, but the crow continues to bore them with his Marxist beliefs. Father and son soon come up with a solution for silencing the talkative crow.
