The Greenskeeper is a 2002 independent comedy film that is set in a golf course and revolves around the quirky, dysfunctional characters that work there. The primary character is Tripp, portrayed by Allelon Ruggiero, a young man who has just started working as a greenskeeper at an exclusive golf club. Tripp is the epitome of a slacker, and his lack of enthusiasm for work makes him a target of ridicule for his boss, Grant (Bruce Taylor) and his co-workers, the overweight and clumsy Hank (Ron Lester) and the obsessive-compulsive Carl (Steve Heinz). Tripp's only friends at the club are the bartender, Marley (Lacey Beeman) and a sarcastic waitress, Ashley (Tanya Garnett).

The plot begins when Tripp accidentally overhears a group of rich golfers planning to rig their matches and make a lot of money through illegal gambling. Tripp decides to get in on the action and conspires with Marley to enter the tournament and cheat his way to the top. This sets off a chain of events that involves a greedy bookie, a manipulative club owner, and an ex-girlfriend who wants to get back at Tripp.

Despite the serious undertones of the plot, the movie is primarily a comedy, and the humor arises from the eccentricities of the characters and the slapstick situations that they get into. Hank, for instance, is frequently shown bumbling around the golf course, breaking golf clubs and accidentally hitting people with golf balls. Carl is obsessed with cleanliness and hygiene, and spends most of his time cleaning the already immaculate greens. The interactions between these characters are often hilarious, and the film manages to maintain a light-hearted tone throughout.

The movie is shot in a predominantly bright and sunny style, with picturesque shots of the golf course and lush greenery. The soundtrack is upbeat and catchy, with several rock and pop songs that add a fun element to the movie. One notable aspect of the movie is its use of animation and special effects during the golfing scenes, which gives a unique and playful twist to the sequences.

Overall, The Greenskeeper is a charming and entertaining movie that would particularly appeal to fans of offbeat comedies. The performances, particularly from Ron Lester and Steve Heinz, are standout, and the script is both witty and amusing. The movie does suffer from pacing issues, however, and some of the plotlines feel underdeveloped. Nonetheless, with its cheerful atmosphere and likeable characters, The Greenskeeper is a movie that is sure to put a smile on your face.
