Watch The Flower and the Angry Waves

Set in Japan in the first decades of the Twentieth Century, this fast paced adventure recounts the story of a young man who absconds with the bride of his master, a yakuza leader. He flees with her to the outskirts of Tokyo, where they both conceal their identities. He finds work in a mine and she begins serving food in a restaurant. Both struggle to hide from the yakuza, who seek revenge. But hiding becomes impossible when the young mine worker becomes the leader of a labor uprising. The film earned high praise for both performances and a tight plot.
