The Eclipse is a horror film that was released in 2009. The film begins with a horror fiction writer who travels to a remote Irish town in order to work on her newest book. While she is there, she runs into a man who has been widowed for over two years and who is seeking to finally leave the memory of his wife behind him. However, problems for the widower start to arise when he finds that he is seeing ghosts. This is further complicated by his sudden romance with the horror writer, and his ghost sightings become more and more frightening.

The Eclipse was written and directed by Conor McPherson, and the original story was created by Billy Roche. The character of the widower is played by Ciarán Hinds, and the horror writer is played by Iben Hjejle. The Eclipse also features performances by Aidan Quinn and Jim Norton.
