The movie is set in a small town where Ivy, the daughter, runs away on her bike from her mother Jo, after a fight. Ivy's decision leads to her death via a drunk driver. She goes unseen and unnoticed by anyone except her mother, even as she haunts her mother who is wracked with guilt over how her daughter died. Jo deals with the aftermath of her daughter's death and finds herself playing the judge, jury, and executioner when she decides to confront the man who killed her daughter. On her way to take revenge, she accidentally hits a man who happens to be her daughter's killer. Back at home, Jo discovers the man's corpse frozen in their backyard, and she along with her daughter has to deal with the evil presence that begins to haunt them in their home.

The grieving mother Jo is consumed by vengeance after the death of her daughter, and this push for revenge leads to a string of events that unleashes a supernatural entity into their home. However, the movie's standout performance has to be Zelda Adams portrayal of Ivy, both alive and dead. Her performance is enchanting, and the way she effortlessly flits between life and death adds to the eeriness of the movie.

The movie's exploration of the supernatural is less of a horror movie experience and more of a haunting exploration of these two themes.
