The Custodian is a psychological thriller from 2012 that follows the story of John, a former cop who becomes a private investigator. He is assigned to investigate a missing person's case that leads him to the Chambers family. The Chambers family is composed of a mother, her son, and her daughter, who are all living in a luxurious mansion that's filled with secrets.
The missing person John is investigating is the father of the Chambers family. He disappeared six months earlier, and the family has no idea where he went. As John begins to investigate, he discovers that the family has a lot of hidden secrets, and not only the father but also their uncle was missing too. John soon realizes that this is no average missing person's case.
While investigating, John uncovers some startling information about the family's history. He finds that they have been involved in some illegal activities in the past, and the father's disappearance might have something to do with that. As he continues to dig deeper, John's own sanity begins to crumble as he is faced with the truth about the family's dark past.
Meanwhile, John develops a romantic interest in the daughter of the Chambers family, which complicates matters even further. He discovers that the daughter has a very close relationship with her mother, and it's impossible to unravel the secrets of the family without her help.
The Custodian trusts no one, and he soon realizes that he's in danger. He starts to experience hallucinations and nightmares as he investigates the case. With each passing day, the situation becomes more desperate, and John realizes that he might not be able to solve the case before it's too late.
The director, Rodrigo Ortuzar Lynch, does an excellent job in building an atmosphere of suspense and tension throughout the entire movie. He creates an eerie and haunting environment that keeps the audience engaged and intrigued. The camera work is also remarkable, with the shots and angles contributing to the overall eerie feel of the mansion.
The acting in the movie is top-notch, with Lisa Carey playing the role of the mother in a convincing and chilling way. Kenneth Crowther's portrayal of John, the Custodian, is equally impressive. He manages to convey the character's paranoia and desperation in a very convincing way.
Mirko Grillini does an excellent job as the son of the Chambers family. He portrays the character's vulnerability and innocence very well, making it hard for the viewer to determine his role in the family's affairs.
In conclusion, The Custodian is an intense and thrilling movie that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seats throughout the entire runtime. The movie's pacing is excellent, and the script is well-crafted. The excellent acting, combined with the creepy atmosphere, makes The Custodian a must-watch movie for any thriller or suspense enthusiast.
