In the small town of Gladbury, every twenty-five years an angel visits the local candlemaker, Haddington, and blesses one candle. This special candle, known as the Christmas Candle, is believed to grant a miracle to whomever lights it with unwavering faith. However, the new minister, David Richmond (played by Hans Matheson), arrives in Gladbury with a very different perspective. Having lost his faith as a young man, David is skeptical of miracles, arguing that people create their own destiny through hard work and determination.

As David settles into his new role, he meets Emily Barstow (played by Samantha Barks), a young woman who works at the local inn. Emily is deeply spiritual, and despite her attraction to David, she is unable to reconcile her beliefs with his doubts.

Meanwhile, the townspeople of Gladbury are preparing for Christmas and the arrival of the Christmas Candle. Lady Camdon (played by Lesley Manville), the local benefactress, is especially excited for the candle's arrival, as she hopes it will grant her wish for a child after years of infertility.

As David continues to preach his message of self-determination, the town slowly loses faith in the miracle of the Christmas Candle. But when tragedy strikes, David is forced to confront his own doubts and find a way to restore hope in Gladbury.

The Christmas Candle is a heartwarming and beautifully filmed movie that celebrates the power of faith and the magic of the holiday season. The performances by the cast are superb, especially Samantha Barks as the conflicted Emily and Lesley Manville as the desperate Lady Camdon.

The film's cinematography is also noteworthy, with stunning shots of the English countryside and beautiful candlelit scenes that capture the warmth and coziness of Christmas.

Overall, The Christmas Candle is a must-see for anyone who loves a good holiday movie. Its message of hope and faith is universal, and it reminds us that miracles can happen when we believe in something greater than ourselves.

The Christmas Candle is a 2013 drama. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.3 and a MetaScore of 33.
