The Broken Star is a Western film from 1956 which stars Howard Duff, Lita Baron, and Bill Williams. The movie is set in a small town in the West and focuses on the life of a former lawman named John Agar. John had been the sheriff of the town but had retired after his wife died. His departure had left a power vacuum in the town which was quickly filled by the corrupt businessman Joe Naylor.

The story begins when John returns to the town to find that Joe has taken over almost everything. The only things left are the saloon and the bank, both of which are run by a man named Clint. John meets up with his old friend, Clint, and tells him that he wants to buy the saloon. But Clint tells John that he can't sell the saloon because it's the only business that's keeping Joe in check. John, however, doesn't believe that Clint will be able to keep Joe under control for much longer.

As John settles back into life in the town, he starts to uncover some of the corruption that is going on. He discovers that Joe has been buying up land that he plans to sell to the government. But the land is actually worthless, and Joe is using it to launder money. In addition, Joe has a group of men who are wreaking havoc on the town, acting as his enforcers. John knows that he needs to do something to stop Joe and his men.

As John tries to figure out the best way to stop Joe, he begins to develop feelings for a woman named Lila. Lila is the owner of the local hotel, and John finds himself drawn to her. But Lila is also being pursued by Joe, who wants to own the hotel as well. Lila is wary of Joe, but she's also hesitant to get involved with John, as she knows that he's still carrying the pain of losing his wife.

The movie builds up to a climactic showdown between John and Joe, with both men fighting for control of the town. John is able to rally the townspeople to his side, and they all stand up to Joe's gang. The final fight scene is well choreographed and exciting, with John and Joe facing off in a shootout that will determine the fate of the town.

Overall, The Broken Star is a solid Western movie that will satisfy fans of the genre. The plot is compelling, and the acting is decent. The main characters are well-developed, although some of the supporting characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. The film's pacing is steady, with the action building to a satisfying conclusion. The set design is also noteworthy, with the town looking authentic and lived-in. If you're a fan of classic Westerns, you'll enjoy The Broken Star.
