Justo and Manuela are a young couple in love. In Spain, 1937, politics and world events are the forces that pull the young lovers apart. Forced to suffer through incarceration, Justo holds on to his will to survive because he knows that somewhere, Manuela is still alive. Manuela tries to be strong, and raises their children alone, with unshakable faith that she will somehow see the man she loves again.
