Jane has just inherited a beautiful apartment from her deceased aunt and is eager to move in. She gets all the information about her neighbors from one resident, including word of the occupant of the fourth floor. She is something of a hermit who seemingly makes it clear that Jane is unwelcome in the building. Jane endures several forms of backlash, some of them very serious, as she decides whether she should stay or move.
