Tennessee's Partner is a 1955 Western film directed by Allan Dwan, based on a novel of the same name by Bret Harte. The film stars John Payne, Ronald Reagan and Rhonda Fleming. Set in the 1850s in California during the Gold Rush, the movie follows the story of a conman named Tennessee (John Payne) who has a partner named Cowpoke (Ronald Reagan). The two of them make a living by swindling unsuspecting people out of their money. When they encounter a saloon owner by the name of Duchess (Rhonda Fleming), Tennessee becomes smitten with her and begins to rethink his life of crime.

Cowpoke, on the other hand, is not interested in changing his ways and continues to get into trouble. He ends up killing a man in self-defense, and Tennessee takes the blame for him. The two of them are put on trial, and Tennessee's honesty and bravery in standing up for Cowpoke impresses the town and earns him the friendship and respect of some of the locals.

Tennessee eventually realizes that his feelings for Duchess are genuine, but she is not interested in being with a criminal. He decides to turn his life around and make an honest living, with the help of his newfound friends. Meanwhile, Cowpoke continues to be a thorn in their side, getting into more trouble and putting their newfound stability at risk.

The film features some solid performances from the cast. John Payne portrays Tennessee as a likable, roguish character with a good heart. Ronald Reagan, in one of his last film roles before entering politics, does a good job as the reckless and impulsive Cowpoke. Rhonda Fleming is charming as the beautiful and independent Duchess.

The movie has a lighthearted tone for the most part, with some comedic moments sprinkled throughout. However, it also deals with serious themes such as redemption, loyalty and the consequences of one's actions.

Overall, Tennessee's Partner is an entertaining Western that will appeal to fans of the genre. While it may not be a groundbreaking film, it has enough heart and humor to keep audiences engaged.

Tennessee's Partner is a 1955 western with a runtime of 1 hour and 27 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4.
