Teen Wolf Too is a 1987 comedy film and the sequel to the successful 1985 film Teen Wolf. The movie centers around college student Todd Howard (Jason Bateman), the cousin of the original film's protagonist, Scott Howard. Todd discovers that he is also a werewolf, and must learn to embrace his newfound identity while balancing his academic and romantic endeavors.
The film begins with Todd transferring to Hamilton University, where he hopes to continue his family's legacy of academic excellence. Upon arriving, he quickly becomes friends with his roommate, Marvin (Mark Holton), and Rebecca (Kim Darby), a university professor who takes Todd under her wing as her research assistant.
Things take an unexpected turn when Todd discovers that he inherited his family's supernatural ability to transform into a werewolf, just like his cousin Scott. At first, Todd is skeptical about embracing his wolf alter ego, fearing that it will interfere with his studies and his budding romance with the beautiful co-ed, Nicky (Estee Chandler). However, with the help of Scott's trusted friend Stiles (Stuart Fratkin), Todd eventually accepts his fate and decides to embrace his inner wolf.
As he learns to control and hone his wolf abilities, Todd becomes the star of the university's wrestling team, using his enhanced strength and agility to climb the ranks and win matches. However, his success on the mat proves to be short-lived, as his wolf persona begins to consume him and threatens to take over his life. Todd must then confront the fact that being a werewolf is not just a physical change, but also an emotional and mental one, and that he must learn to balance his human and wolf identities if he wants to succeed both academically and personally.
Teen Wolf Too boasts a talented cast of actors, including Jason Bateman as the relatable and endearing Todd Howard, who brings a fresh and unique take to the werewolf character. Kim Darby delivers a strong performance as the tough and spunky Professor Brooks, who serves as a mentor to Todd and helps him navigate the complexities of college life. Meanwhile, John Astin steals the show as Dean Dunn, the bumbling and quirky head of Hamilton University, who adds humor and levity to the film.
The movie also features an upbeat and catchy soundtrack, with hits like "Big Bad Wolf" by Bunny and the Wolf Sisters and "A Night in the Big City" by The Primates.
Teen Wolf Too may not be as well-regarded as its predecessor, but it nonetheless offers a fun and entertaining romp through college life and the supernatural. It's a lighthearted comedy that still manages to explore deeper themes of identity, acceptance, and balance. Overall, Teen Wolf Too is a worthy follow-up to the original film, and a delightful romp for anyone looking for a good laugh and some cheesy '80s goodness.
